Glasgow, Scotland

U of Glasgow SkylineMcDaniel College is a member institution in the Principia Consortium, a group of select US colleges and universities who have collaborated with the University of Glasgow to offer students enrolled in their Honors programs a unique international study abroad opportunity at the University of Glasgow, one of Europe's oldest universities. McDaniel's Honors Program students are permitted to choose from the wide range of subjects offered by Glasgow, and to experience the vibrant culture of Scotland's largest city.

Students will take a special Honors course, "Scottish Enlightenment: Ideas and Influences," and two or three other courses in a wide variety of disciplines.  There are several special courses and opportunities for Principia Consortium students: Functional Anatomy for Pre-Med/Pre-Health Students; Science courses including: Biochemistry, Biology, Organic Chemistry and Physics; Education courses and short-term placements; Service Learning; Medical Humanities; Nursing; Veterinary Biosciences.  Students can also take courses through the University of Glasgow's special relationships with the Glasgow School of Art and the National Piping Centre. The full course catalog is located at: http://www.gla.ac.uk/coursecatalogue/

There is a field trip to historic sites around Scotland, and students can participate in special extracurricular activities and programs organized by the University to museums, art galleries and other special attractions around the city of Glasgow.  This city is an amazing location. It is home to about 23,000 international students and noted as the "coolest city in the UK" by National Geographic Traveller
