Sweet Briar College - Junior Year in Paris Exchange

Overview

This semester or year-long program is an advanced French language and culture program in Paris, France.
 

Classes

Students take classes across a variety of French institutions, which offers a range of classes in French, language, humanities, social sciences, economics, and art and sciences.  More information about academics can be found on the JYF website.

All classes are taught in French.
 

Experiential Learning

Students studying during the spring term also have the option to intern for-credit. 
Students going either semester can volunteer as an English teaching assistant in local schools.


Housing

Students live with host families.
 

Cost

Students will pay McDaniel tuition and an average McDaniel room and board rate to McDaniel.  
Other costs to take in consideration:
  • international health insurance
  • flight
  • visa fees
 

Eligibility

  • 5 semesters (or the equivalent) of college French, including one or more literature, language, or civilization course beyond the intermediate level
  • 3.0 GPA
  • Students who do not meet these requirements may still be accepted upon strong recommendation from their French professors.


Visa Information

After acceptance, all students will need to apply for a visa, which entails applying in person at the French consulate that oversees your state of residence.  JYF will provide document you will need in order to apply for the visa.
